Leading Dublin Architects Fitzgerald Kavanagh & Partners recently headed the renovation of two blocks at the landmark Irish Life Buildings on Abbey Street. Given its scale and location this was a massive job. Even the windows were replaced to compliment the original design.
I was invited to photograph the building by John Thompson, a director at FKP. John has great experience in the design and project management of such office re-fits. On our walk about John praised the original architects for their layout, access, and use of space. Praise indeed from someone who expects such high standards in design.
Though the outside keeps it original form, inside the building is modern and bright. The finishes are clean and crisp. The clever use of lighting even makes a windowless room bright and inviting.
